What is Reiki?

As defined by the National Institutes of Health(NIH): Reiki is an energy medicine practice that originated in Japan. In Reiki, the practitioner places his hands on or near the person receiving treatment, with the intent to transmit ki, believed to be life-force energy. What is Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST)?

BCST influences the central nervous system; brain and spinal column, as well as the fluid that bathes it. This fluid is called the cerebral spinal fluid (CSF). From our skeletal system and the bones of the cranium to the ebbing and flowing of our endocrine system, this cranial modality is effective, yet gentle.

Emotionally- Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy can affect very deep and primary patterns, while providing the client with resource and space to explore their emotional landscape. Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy provides a deep sense of resourcing within the client. This resourcing provides a safe container for emotional issues to resolve.

Reiki Love from a Reiki for Caregivers Student:

I had quite the experience yesterday with reiki and wanted to share it with you. There's a man at our facility that was the very first patient I connected with when I started working at ManorCare a year and a half ago. He's 95 years old. He caught pneumonia a few weeks back and has been very sick. They switched him over to hospice for the comfort measures because he wasn't recovering. Thursday I went to see him and I knew he was not going to make it much longer. I was very sad thinking he was going to die alone because he doesn't have any family. So yesterday morning as soon as I came in to work, I went to see him and he was still holding on. He looked like he was laboring to breath and our respiratory therapist came in and told me he probably had about 12 hours left of life. His hospice nurse was in the room with me and I had told her about reiki the day before. So yesterday morning she asked me to do it for him. I was a little skeptical at first because the patient wasn't conscious and I wasn't sure what to expect. I decided to do it anyways just to maybe relax him. So I grounded myself and started. I got to his heart and had my hands there for about a minute and he stopped breathing. He let go and was gone. I was very shocked because I've never seen anyone go from life to death. But as soon as I told Linda (your other student) and our assistant administrator, they cried and thought it was so beautiful. I helped to relax him enough to transition. And, he didn't die alone. I was there with him, someone who loved him. From J. Collons, March 3, 2012
